Saint Patrick's Day {Informative Writing -- Holidays}

by L. Dani, 7th grade

Saint Patrick’s Day is a holiday (mainly in Ireland) celebrated on March 17th, the date when Saint Patrick died. It was originally a Christian feast in the 17th century. Nowadays the celebration involves public parades and festivals. It is also celebrated in the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand, and there are also parades in Japan. It is celebrated in more countries than any other national holiday. On that day people wear shamrocks and green clothes or they dress up as leprechauns. Leprechauns are Irish fairies. Unlike most fairies they aren’t pretty. They look like an old man and are about 0.6096 meters (2 feet) tall. They have pointy ears and they are dressed in green. They guard the gold at the bottom of the rainbows. They spend their time making shoes or looking for gold. On Saint Patrick’s Day famous Irish landmarks are lit up in green. A part of the celebration in Ireland is drinking alcohol. People criticize Saint Patrick’s Day because it is over commercialized. There are also sports events on Saint Patrick’s Day.

Stranger Things (Part 1)

by L. Dani, 7th grade

I have to write about a picture, and because this is a picture I’m gonna write about Stranger Things. I will try to tell the story from memory but definitely not chapter by chapter.

In the first season we are introduced to the main characters: Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin and Eleven. At the start there is a laboratory where a monster escaped and killed a worker. After that we see the kids (except Eleven) are playing a card game, which has a name, I just don’t know it. Then they go home. On the way home most of the kids get home safely. But Will sees a strange figure in the distance and falls off the road. He runs home but nobody is home. Then he sees the figure from the window again, and then the lights start to flicker. He runs out to the garden where there is a tool shed and he grabs a gun. Then the lights flicker again and he disappears. The next day his mom and his brother realise that he is not home so they start searching for him. His mom (Joyce) goes to the police station where we are introduced to Jim Hopper, the chief of the police. First he doesn’t care that much because he says that kids usually disappear for 2 or 3 days, then come back home, but Joyce convinces him so they start searching for him. Meanwhile a girl appears in a restaurant and the owner gives her food. When he asks what her name is she shows a tattoo on her arm that says: ’011’. The owner calls, I don’t know, Child Protective Service or something and a woman comes there to the restaurant. He let’s her in and then she shoots him and two men come into the restaurant and start searching for Eleven. They find her so she snaps their necks with her telepathic powers and runs away. Mike, Lucas and Dustin go out to a forest to find Will. They don’t find Will, but they find Eleven. They bring her to Mike’s basement.

Football {Informative}

by András Poczkodi, 6th grade

Unfortunately we don't play football like America, but I think it's because we can get hurt a lot,
but I think European football is better because this football is not as aggressive. But it is up to everyone to decide. I love football and basketball but I'm better at football

My favorite team is Real Madrid. They are a Spanish team. Their uniforms are white and blue. Their Biggest rival is Barcelona. My favorite player is Ronaldo because he is the best.

Ozzy

by Laci, 6th grade

My cat: OZZY

I have a cat named Ozzy. She is a 2 years old tri-color cat. We have had her approximately 2 years.

The first year

Ozzy is from my mother’s workplace. There was an alley cat. It’s nickname was Cindy because it had a black spot above her mouth like Cindy Crawford. She had a lot of kittens and one of them is Ozzy.And one day we brought her to our home! I was very happy. When my dad arrived from work and he opened the door Ozzy got scared and hid behind the table. For 3-4 days we didn’t see her, but we went as close as we could and we fed her from our hand. After a week she first washed next to my table! I approached her carefully and pet her. Then she became house-trained. Then about  three quarters of a year later we moved. We brought her to my grandfather, but she did’t like being there. One day after school we brought her to our new home.

The second year

Ozzy didn’t really like being with us because our garden wasn’t  too big and she didn’t have too much space. Then we brought her to my grandparents again! And now she loves being there. She has a little nook above the boiler. When my grandfather goes to put wood on the fire she always runs to her little nook. Now she is quite fat and has long whiskers.

My Dogs: ZEUS AND PICI

by András Poczkodi, 6th grade

My dog’s name is Zeus. He is 1 year old. He is black. He is of average size. And my other dog’s name is Pici. He is 2 years old. He is yellow. Both of them fight to get to the animal. They always bark in the evening. They do not leave the goats alone. They never stop barking but never get upset.

Zeus looks similar to this.

My other dog looks like this.

The memories of 1st grade

by K.L. Mátyás, 7th grade

The 1st of September, 2013. Our hero Mátyás was excited to be in school. He didn’t know what  was waiting for him. Week one at school: Nothing was happening. We didn’t have our books to learn. It wasn’t that bad. We were in the prison of the football pitch. At that time it wasn’t made of plastic grass. It was so painful to fall to the ground then. We weren’t friends first, but through the years we realized that this is the only chance to survive. We played football with a ball made of plastic. We weren’t strong enough to kick a real football. This prison trained us to know that you don’t want to kick that ball with your toes. Week two: The books and desks arrived. We started learning. We didn’t really learn anything. Our days  were full of learning the defaults of maths, grammar, literature, English and physical education. We did one or two exercises per lesson. It was boring and pointless, too. From then on until the end of the 2nd grade: We couldn’t do more than two exercises per lesson. We weren’t stupid, but we weren’t smart. We spent ten minutes or less at prison yard every day. It was horrible. When we were with our maths teacher we studied maths, maths during daycare and p.e and. We studied grammar and literature when we were with the Hungarian teacher. Every teacher was Hungarian, but she taught us Hungarian literature and grammar.

Somewhere around the 20th of December in that exact point of the space time continuum, the 1st grade of 2013 and 2014 went on their first school winter holiday. Christmas arrived as soon as it could. It wasn’t long. It was short. And it’s getting shorter and shorter year by year. IT’S HORRIBLY TERRIBLE! But let’s get back to school. The teachers or prison officers say this after Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer holidays. They cannot miss this. The 6th of January in 2014: The Winter holiday ended. We said what we got from the little Jesus or poor people from the angel. It was good cause we didn’t learn. Then we realized after three years that we missed so many things about maths, grammar and some other things.

The 20th of March in 2014. The first school Easter started to come. Everyone was excited about it. What will the bunny bring for us? It was not cool! The teachers said this is good! but we all knew that they don’t really give a single piece of poo-poo. Sorry for those massively bad words, but I had to let it out! Then after a lot of pointless lessons we got to the Spring holiday. Nothing happened except Easter. We made it through every single maths and grammar lesson without going out to the prison yard for more than  fifteen minutes, and we finally got to the Summer holiday. We thought… We had to listen for like one and a half hours to a speech! It was one of the most boring experiences of my life. And side note: Our prison is getting better in time but the year ender show is always getting longer and longer! And of course the year ends in summer, because it cannot end when it starts of course, so it’s hot as magma multiplied by magma99 because the school has like 450 students in every year, plus the parents, plus teachers, plus special guests. It is as hot as that word that you are thinking about, but I won’t write it in the story cause it’s as bad as the same word. So yeah. I hated 1st grade and I still hate it, but I got trained through the years, and the good news is there’s only 20 months left… ×CRYING EMOJI×  and then the high level prison comes…×CRYING EMOJI×

A Summer Trip

by L. Dani, 7th grade

This summer I went to Nádasd, which is a village ’near’ Balaton. We went to visit one of my parents’ friends who lives there. I think we were there for 9 days. My parents’ friends bought a house and we slept there. It had a sauna, a jacuzzi tub, an Xbox 360 and no wifi. It also had beer in the basement. I think another reason why we went there was because the Völgy Festival, which is nearby, but I’m not sure, but a reason which I’m sure about is that my Dad was the pastor at the worship on Sunday. It was a 4 hour ride from Nyíregyháza, so it was pretty boring. We also brought our Switch with us. It’s Switch or Nintendo Switch, please don’t call it Nintendo, that’s the company. After that we went to Révfülöp. It is next to Balaton. We were there for a week. We watched the new Aladdin movie and Spiderman: Far From Home at an outdoor cinema there. The outdoor cinema also has a beach. We went to that beach twice and twice to the other one which had a restaurant. Next we went another town that I don’t remember the name of, for 3 days with my half-sister and my nephew and niece. I don’t remember much about that. Also there are probably a lot of things I forgot

NYÍREGYHÁZA {Informative Writing}

by K. L. Mátyás

Nyíregyza is the city where I live. This city is in Eastern-Hungary in a county called Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg megye (county). This city has a population around 120K people. This is one of the most powerful city in Hungary and that’s cool if we think of another simular city, like Miskolc. It doesn’t look similar, but people do the same things, such as making pálinka and drinking pálinka. Did you know that the pálinka from Nyíregyháza is 60 % alcohol If you want your pálinka to be weaker here try using Domestos. But lets talk about the oldest building in Nyíregyháza. It’s the Lutheran church. This is historically the first building at Nyíregyháza, and in my theory when you type Nyíregyháza in your GPS it will mark the Lutheran Church. In the 18th century rich people sent tirpák people here from Szarvas, which is still not a compound word. So tirpák people started building a village, then it evolved to be a town, then it became the capital of the county. People like eating here too. Well if you look around at Hungary you can see that people like eating everywhere. Stuffed cabbage in Nyíregyháza is very good. Let me introduce it to you. So it’s small, it’s spicy and it’s very good. There are sports here like pig killing and pig eating and beer lifting and many similar things. I personally was not born in Nyíregyháza, but I live here and I’m proud of the things if wrote, well most of the things I wrote.

Nyíregyháza {Informative Writing}

by  András Poczkodi, 6th grade

Nyiregyháza is a big city in Northern Hungary. I like to go to Kossuth Square and eat ice cream. Some other famous places are the zoo and Sóstó Village Museum. People go to the zoo to look at polar bears. People go to the Village Museum to see earthen houses. My favorite thing about Nyíregyháza is Korzo.

Nyíregyháza {Informative Writing}

by Laci, 6th grade

Nyiregyháza is a city in northeastern Hungary and the county capital of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg.

History

 Nyíregyháza is a very old city. I think Nyiregyháza’s most famous place is the Sóstó Zoo. It has more than 500 species of  animals. In Nyíregyháza there are 4 important churches: the Lutheran, the Reformed and two Catholic churches (Roman and Greek).

The inhabitants of the town took an active part in the revolution and war for independence in 1848-49, and after the suppression of the revolution several citizens were imprisoned, among them the mayor, Márton Hatzel.

Nyíregyháza’s population is 118,000. It is the seventh-largest city in Hungary!

Why I like Nyíregyháza

I like Nyíregyháza cause I was born here and I live here. My favourite place is Sóstó Lake and the forest.

Nyíregyháza {Informative Writing}

by L. Dani, 7th grade

Nyíregyháza has been the capital of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg State since 1876. More than 117 thousand people live here. The Hungarian Lego Factory is here. It's on the Eastern side of the country. The average price of a 3 star hotel is 12,799 Forints.

 The Lutheran Church: It's Nyíregyháza's oldest building. There is a golden globe on top of the church. In 2001 when the church was repaired they had to take off the globe and while they refinished it they had to take it apart and they found papers from 1822, 1853 and 1883 about the history of Nyíregyháza, hunger, wildfires and things about religion.

Kossuth Square: In the middle of the Square there is a memorial for Kossuth Lajos which was built by Bethlen Gábor. Kossuth Lajos was an important person in the 1848 Revolution. The Town Hall is also here. In 1912 the Saving Post Office was built here by Hubert József. There is also a hotel called Korona Hotel/Korona Szálló. The Korzó (a small mall) is also there. Once there was a Lego shop there but it was closed and a book store opened at where it used to be. Also the Roman Catholic church is there behind a big fountain.

Blame someone else day {Informative Writing}

by L. Dani, 6th grade

 😱
BLAME SOMEONE ELSE DAY
  Are you a liar? Then this day is for you! A whole 24 hours of pointing fingers at other people. You took a 💩 in someone’s shoe? Blame the dog! This day is on the first Friday 13th of the year and it lasts for 24 hours. The creator of this beautiful day is Anne Moeller in Michigan. She was the one who started this „trend” as an excuse for not keeping her appointments on the day Friday 13th. Yeah, this is some even more ridiculous stuff than usual.

The Ten Magical Bugs {Creative Writing}

by K. Mátyás, 6th grade

So once there was a little boy called Morozzo. He heard about the ten Magical Bugs and he wanted to have them. He went for the things he needed. So he started mission. In three days he found the first… corrupted lady bug. So in seven days he found the first Magical Bug. He put it into a safe which weighed seven tons. He went home with it, but when opened it he found nothing. He was upset, but he knew there are nine more… in the world. So he killed one of the rarest animals in the world, but there are nine more. Lucky situation. So he went for the second. In a few days… about forty-nine days he found the second. He put it into a safe, which was forty-nine tons. He went home with it, but when he opened it, he found nothing. He was upset again. But look! There are eight more. It’s still good! He left home again to find the third. He had some ideas about what happened with the bugs. Maybe they need air too. But he thought it can’t be real, cause these are the rarest animals, how can that thing happen that they need air. In three-hundred and forty-three days he found the third. He put it into a safe weighing three-hundred and forty-three tons. He went home. When he opened it he found nothing again. He had some more ideas. Maybe they need the things what other animals need, but sure it was a stupid idea cause they are Magical bugs. There are seven more. ’It’s good!’ said his friend Simon. So he tried to find the seven more in one-hundred and thirty-six thousand eight-hundred and fifty-seven days he found three more and he also killed them all. There are four more. Maybe he died, but I have to say he is alive and he is still looking. So in forty-six million nine-hundred and forty-one thousand nine-hundred and fifty-one days he found three more. A few days later, it was around infinite he found the last one. He didn’t put it into a box. He put it into a safe which was around … around … 9999999999x1099999 tons, no it’s not too heavy for a little child, so he went home with it. He opened it and the bug, that little magical thing, which was … pointless, that little thing which was the last one from that type of animals, he killed it too like the nine other. He was very upset. He went to the bathroom to wash his face. Then you can’t imagine what happened. What do you think? What did came out from the faucet? On that day it was a surprise for everyone! So, what do you think? Water! Simple water came out from that thing! Simple water! What else? And then he heard a sound. *KNOCK*KNOCK*KNOCK* FBI OPEN UP! Maybe because he killed all of the magical bugs, maybe because he did it, maybe because I’m right… Nobody knows, but there’s a thing what is clear for everyone… it’s not Ali-A in the word AustrALI-A.

Webdriver Torso

by L. Dani, 6th grade

Webdriver Torso

On March 7, 2013 Webdriver Torso uploaded it’s first video. Since then it has more than 620.000 videos. Exactly 624.701 videos. Some people said that it’s controlled by aliens and that this is the way they try to communicate with us, but later Google told us that it’s their channel. Great, no aliens or government or anything interesting. Now you might ask: ’Why does Google need this channel?’ and the reason is it’s for testing the website’s performance *cough* according to Wikipedia *cough*. In 2016 time between uploads was only an hour. The channel has three videos that are not the typical blue and red squares. One is called ’tmpP IQhI’ the other one is called ’00014’. ’tmpP lQhl’ is normal for a few seconds (if you can call these videos normal) but later Rick Ashley is going to dance on the screen. Don’t ask. If you search ’webdriver torso’ in Google the Google logo will change to a gif of webdriver torso. In the Android version L, the android version Easter egg is webdriver torso. Once Youtube replied when someone asked about the webdriver torso:
"We're never gonna give you uploading that's slow or loses video quality, and we're never gonna let you down by playing YouTube in poor video quality. That's why we're always running tests like Webdriver Torso”

Stuffed Cabbage {Writing about Food}

by K. Mátyás, 6th grade

Stuffed Cabbage
The stuffed cabbage is the best food in the BLOODY Universe. It’s definitely the god of foods. I told you! So you need 10 dkg rice, 1 kg minced pork leg, 1 piece of red onion, 3-4 pieces of garlic, salt (put in as much as you like), ground black pepper, red pepper, some oil, some flour, more red pepper and we are done with the meat part. Just mix it. We need a bigger piece of cabbage. Separate the leaves. Then YEET the mixed meat part to the cabbage leaves and cook it.

Palinka {Writing about Food}

by L. Dani, 6th grade

Pálinka

Okay So if it’s not made in Hungary it’s not pálinka
1st You need some plums and ’some’ alcohol. You can steal some plums every autumn during the fruit harvest.
2nd Put the not stolen plums in a barrel for fermentation and then squash them so the police have no proof that you stole them.
3rd After years when the plums are not sweet add some sugar (around 1 tons)
4th You will need ’heavy artillery’ (If you don’t have! Don’t steal one)
5th This will take long 4 you because you have to stay up overnight so get some coffee and coke and get ready.
6th You will have to stir for hours. Also, you will need a furnace that’s why you have to stir so let’s go !don’t steal one. You will need a cauldron too so !don’t steal that either. After some hours the first drops will appear
7th Done
8th Dig your grave
9th Go into the grave
10th Drink it

Guess what {Descriptive Writing}

by K. Mátyás, 6th grade

So, it’s 20x107 bigger than the earth. It’s light is very weak , so I can’t tell you what colour is it. Its mass is … HUGE! It’s both an orb and a puck. Its pattern is the same colour everywhere. Its temperature is  UNIMAGINABLE. It has a ring around it, a very big ring which is rotating. It’s made of everything that was nearby (the thing with the ring). You can’t smell it. IT’S IMPOSSIBLE! DO NOT TRY! If you touch this… you are dead! Not a joke! DO NOT BLOODY TRY! If you try to put it in your mouth it will eat you! DO NOT TRY! It sounds like… IT IS UNIMAGINABLE! It’s in the middle of the Milky Way and you can’t use the Internet! What am I talking about?
