Anacondas {Animal Project - Informational Writing}

by Nikki, 7th grade

The anaconda is classified as a reptile. It is the largest snake in the world because it can reach a length of 9 meters! They are also very heavy. They can weigh up to 227 kilograms. They do not kill their prey by delivering venom through a bite, but instead they wrap themselves around their prey and squeeze them. That also means that they are not herbivores, but carnivores. They can open their mouths wide enough to fit in a small deer, or a jaguar. They usually live for 10 years. Their common name is green anaconda because they are mostly green. There are also anacondas with darker colors. They have scales  which can be striped or they have colorful dots. This animal is very scary, but at the same time it is very interesting!
