NYÍREGYHÁZA {Informative Writing}

by K. L. Mátyás

Nyíregyza is the city where I live. This city is in Eastern-Hungary in a county called Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg megye (county). This city has a population around 120K people. This is one of the most powerful city in Hungary and that’s cool if we think of another simular city, like Miskolc. It doesn’t look similar, but people do the same things, such as making pálinka and drinking pálinka. Did you know that the pálinka from Nyíregyháza is 60 % alcohol If you want your pálinka to be weaker here try using Domestos. But lets talk about the oldest building in Nyíregyháza. It’s the Lutheran church. This is historically the first building at Nyíregyháza, and in my theory when you type Nyíregyháza in your GPS it will mark the Lutheran Church. In the 18th century rich people sent tirpák people here from Szarvas, which is still not a compound word. So tirpák people started building a village, then it evolved to be a town, then it became the capital of the county. People like eating here too. Well if you look around at Hungary you can see that people like eating everywhere. Stuffed cabbage in Nyíregyháza is very good. Let me introduce it to you. So it’s small, it’s spicy and it’s very good. There are sports here like pig killing and pig eating and beer lifting and many similar things. I personally was not born in Nyíregyháza, but I live here and I’m proud of the things if wrote, well most of the things I wrote.

Nyiregyháza is a big city in Northern Hungary. I like to go to Kossuth Square and eat ice cream. Some other famous places are the zoo and Sóstó Village Museum. People go to the zoo to look at polar bears. People go to the Village Museum to see earthen houses. My favorite thing about Nyíregyháza is Korzo.

Nyiregyháza is a city in northeastern Hungary and the county capital of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg.

History

 Nyíregyháza is a very old city. I think Nyiregyháza’s most famous place is the Sóstó Zoo. It has more than 500 species of  animals. In Nyíregyháza there are 4 important churches: the Lutheran, the Reformed and two Catholic churches (Roman and Greek).

The inhabitants of the town took an active part in the revolution and war for independence in 1848-49, and after the suppression of the revolution several citizens were imprisoned, among them the mayor, Márton Hatzel.

Nyíregyháza’s population is 118,000. It is the seventh-largest city in Hungary!

Why I like Nyíregyháza

I like Nyíregyháza cause I was born here and I live here. My favourite place is Sóstó Lake and the forest.
